Jehovah’s Witnesses from Utah and parts of Idaho, Wyoming and Colorado will meet TODAY (Friday), Saturday and Sunday at the Dee Events Center in Ogden. The theme for their 2009 Convention is “Keep On the Watch”. All sessions are open to the public. The program starts at 920a.m. all three days. Admission is free. No collections are taken.

A 100-mile motorcycle mini-run to benefit the Ski- High Institute at Utah State University will be held Sunday, July 5-th. Riders in this local run will be joined by ten riders from across the country who will be coming through Logan on the 5th on their way to Alaska (from Florida). The local mini-run will begin and end at Merlin Olsen Park south pavilion. Motorcyclists can join the local ride by arriving in time Sunday afternoon to register starting at 2p.m. they can also register online by going to www.skihi.org and clicking on the Logan mini-run bar. The Ski-Hi Institute is an internationally known non-profit organization at Utah State University whose mission is to enhance the lives of young children with sensory disabilities and their families. Another Baby Workshop will be held Tuesday night from 6p.m. to 7p.m. at the Whittier Community Center (290 N 400 East)in Logan. The topic is: Weaning Your Breastfed Baby. The American West Heritage Center presents “Wild West Shakespeare – Romeo & Juliet- the Musical Comedy” playing most Fridays & Saturdays in July & August. Along with the musical melodrama enjoy a gourmet chuckwagon dinner, wagon ride and Wild West fun. Gates open at 530p.m. where a horse-drawn wagon will take you to where the action happens. Bridgerland Literacy provides individualized reading instruction to adults who are conversational in English and who read below the eighth-grade level (average intake level is between a 2-point-5 and a 4-th grade level) and to children who read below their grade level. They do this by recruiting, training and supporting reading skills. They serve clients who live throughout Cache Valley. All of their services are provided without charge to the student. The Logan Parks and Recreation Department is now taking Park Reservations for the 2009 season at the Logan Community Recreation Center (195 S 100 West) in Logan. Parks that are available to reserve include Adams, Bridgerland, Merlin Olsen Central, Merlin Olsen Enclosed pavilion, Fairview, Jens Johansen, Lundstrom, Mount Logan, River Hollow, Soccer park, Willow Park Area B, C, Horseshoe, Willow West and Willow Rotary. Even though the Census for this decade is still a year away, Census workers may already be in your neighborhood. They are checking to make sure the current addresses are correct so that the survey can be delivered next year. The workers are easy to identify: each of them will have aon official badge with their name and signature and each of them will slso be carrying a tote bag from the U.S. Census Bureau. This year Census workers will be using a handheld computer with maps of the area to ensure the address list of the Census is as accurate as possible. And remember, they CAN’T share your information with anyone. It’s the law.
